Sea freight

Heavy cargo
takes the sea route.

Sea is the most economical way to move high-volume cargo over long distances. We run container planning, equipment supply and port operations from one desk.

Sea freight has the lowest unit cost of any mode; it is also the one that takes the most coordination. Opening the booking, releasing the empty container from the depot, loading, customs, terminal delivery and issuing the bill of lading — when each of these sits with a different contact, the process drags.

At Alpagu all of these steps sit with a single operations officer. You never have to work out who to call to find out where your cargo is.

On full container (FCL) shipments we source the equipment from the line and draw up the loading plan together with you. On part loads (LCL) we place your cargo in a suitable consolidation and confirm that the dimension and weight declaration is correct before loading — a container held at the gate over a VGM discrepancy is one of the most expensive problems to resolve after the fact.
