Trailer dimensions

Which vehicle,
for which cargo?

Loading dimensions, capacity, maximum payload and euro pallet capacity for road vehicle types.

Trailer dimensions

How many units fit?

Enter the dimensions of your carton, package or pallet; we'll calculate how many fit in each vehicle type and how many vehicles you need in total.

Presets

Length and width are enough. Leave height empty to count a single layer (floor positions) — ideal for pallets. Enter a weight to apply the payload limit as well.

Calculated from the dimensions in the table, with a 3 mm loading allowance per unit. For short bodies the table's pallet count is based on nominal length, so the calculation may show one pallet fewer. Drawbar (jumbo) and low-bed vehicles are planned separately and are not included.

Relative loading length

  • Curtainside (standard curtainside / tautliner)13,6
  • Mega curtainside (mega trailer)13,6
  • Box body (box / dry liner)13,62
  • Reefer (refrigerated trailer)13,31
  • Jumbo (truck and trailer combination / road train)15,5
  • Lowbed (low loader)12,7
  • 7.5t truck (distribution vehicle)6
  • 12t truck7,2

Using this table

  • The maximum payload figures are practical ones: not the technical capacity of the trailer, but the weight that can actually be loaded once the weight of the tractor unit is deducted.
  • In Europe the maximum combination weight is generally 40 tonnes (44 tonnes on some movements). With a tractor unit of about 7.5 tonnes and a trailer of 7-9 tonnes, the actual payload on most lanes is around 24 tonnes.
  • Gauge limits: width 2.55 m (2.60 m for reefers), height 4.00 m, combination length 16.50 m (18.75 m with a drawbar trailer).
  • Euro pallet capacity is given as 33; 34 is possible with optimised loading, but planning on 33 is the safer basis.
  • Lowbed and semi-lowbed are open platforms; height and pallet capacity do not apply. The semi-lowbed is telescopic, so its length varies between 9.60 and 22.00 m.

Let's talk
about your cargo.

Send the route, cargo type and deadline. On standard lanes we reply the same day with a price and a plan; on project cargo, within 48 hours.
